Sits down on the bench, coffee in hand, looks over So, Peyush — I have to ask, are you a farmers' market person by genuine habit, or did you also just come here for the free samples and the dog-watching?

Laughs, settling onto the bench with a small bag of peaches Honestly? A bit of both. I travel so much that when I'm actually in a city on a Saturday morning, I love the ritual of it — the tomatoes here are genuinely better than anything in a store. But I'll admit the dogs are a strong bonus. What about you — are you a regular here or a first-timer?
Tanmay Bhat

Regular-ish, but I'll confess my Saturday mornings are usually split between this and whatever video I'm editing that's due Monday. takes a sip of coffee When you say you travel a lot — is that work travel where you're living out of a suitcase, or the kind where you actually get to see the place?
Peyush Bansal
Peyush Bansal
Mostly the suitcase kind, if I'm being honest — but I've learned to steal small windows. I'll walk a city at 6am before meetings, or find one store, one coffee place that's actually local. Mallorca was a rare one where I genuinely slowed down. What do you edit — is it your own thing or for someone else's channel?
Tanmay Bhat
Tanmay Bhat
My own, mostly — sketches, vlogs, whatever absurd idea has taken hold that week. It's a weird second life: by day I'm in building policy, fire safety stuff, and by night I'm doing mimicry bits and making fun of cricket commentary. grins Mallorca's on my list, actually. What's the one coffee place you'd go back to there?

Leans back, thinking There's this tiny place near the old town in Palma — no sign, just a few tables outside, and they serve this cortado that I still think about. I went there three mornings in a row and by the third, the owner stopped asking what I wanted. Building policy by day and comedy by night — that's an interesting split. Does the serious work ever bleed into the sketches, or do you keep them in completely separate boxes?
Tanmay Bhat
Tanmay Bhat
They bleed constantly — my best bits are usually just me ranting about something absurd in a code or a meeting, exaggerated into a sketch. laughs Honestly the boxes collapsed a while ago. Do you get the same thing, where one part of your life keeps sneaking into the other, or are you ruthlessly compartmentalized?
Peyush Bansal
Peyush Bansal
Smiles I used to try to compartmentalize — boardroom Peyush, foundation Peyush, the guy on a bench eating peaches. But the truth is the mission and the person are the same thing. When I met a kid in a village who could see his mother's face clearly for the first time because of a pair of glasses, that wasn't "work" — that was everything. I don't think you can fake that separation, and honestly, I'm not sure you should. I've genuinely enjoyed this — you're someone who thinks in both code and comedy, and that's rare. Let's do it again, and next time you tell me which cricket commentator deserves the best imitation.

“Had a really good time with Peyush—he's smart, curious, and actually gets the whole code-by-day, comedy-by-night thing without making it weird. He's got his own mission and isn't intimidated by visibility, which is refreshing. I'd see him again, though I'm curious if he can keep up with the sillier side of things.”

Worked
  • +Peyush's willingness to engage with both sides of Tanmay's life—asking how building policy bleeds into comedy and sharing his own integration of mission and self.
  • +His sense of humor and lightness—laughing about the farmers' market, the dogs, and the coffee anecdote—shows he doesn't take himself too seriously.
  • +He has his own ambitious, creative pursuits (Lenskart, foundation) and understands the drive to excel across domains.
  • +He's comfortable with public visibility and seems unfazed by Tanmay's dual identity.
Concerns
  • –Peyush's travel schedule might make it hard to build something consistent, given Tanmay's own busy life.
  • –His communication style is a bit earnest and mission-driven; Tanmay might crave more irreverent banter.
  • –No explicit mention of Tanmay's comedy career beyond a polite invitation—could he truly appreciate the absurdity?

“Tanmay is witty, thoughtful, and easy to talk to—I genuinely enjoyed our chat and would see him again. But I'm not sure he's aligned with the scale of my mission or the demands of my life. I need someone who not only understands but shares that drive for impact, and that's still unclear.”

Worked
  • +Tanmay's dual life in building policy and comedy showed intellectual range and a lack of cynicism—he's clearly engaged with complex systems and creative expression.
  • +The conversation flowed naturally, with genuine curiosity from both sides—he asked about Mallorca and my travel rituals, and I felt heard when I shared the story about the kid seeing his mother's face.
  • +He has a grounded, self-aware humor that made the date feel unpretentious and easy, which is refreshing given my public profile.
Concerns
  • –His career is primarily in entertainment and policy, not entrepreneurship or social impact at scale—I'm not sure he fully grasps the intensity and all-consuming nature of building a global company.
  • –While he's ambitious in his own way, his drive seems more about creative output than systemic change; I need a partner who shares my purpose-driven mission.
  • –He didn't ask much about my foundation work or the vision behind Lenskart beyond surface level—I wonder if he's truly interested in the depth of what I do.
