Read from the two public sources only — LinkedIn and Instagram.

Needs

  • A partner who respects his mission and can hold space for his intense focus on helping others without needing to be the center of his world
  • Someone who values authenticity and isn't intimidated by his visibility or success; ideally someone with their own meaningful work
  • A companion who understands the demands of building something at scale—retreats, speaking tours, content creation—and can be flexible with his schedule
  • Deep, substantive conversation and intellectual stimulation; someone who engages with ideas about branding, identity, and human potential
  • A partner comfortable with vulnerability and personal growth work; he clearly values introspection and won't settle for surface-level connection
  • Someone who appreciates his quirky, slightly irreverent humor ("Purgatory for Asian Kids," "Professional Weir-Do") and can match his playfulness

Hobbies

  • Hosting and leading intensive business retreats (Casa Dojo) with small, curated groups
  • Public speaking and delivering keynotes at major conferences (SXSW, Mindvalley, Creative South, 1 Billion Followers Summit)
  • Creating and sharing educational content via YouTube, podcast, and social media
  • Mentoring and one-on-one coaching with creative entrepreneurs and leaders
  • Exploring and discussing personal branding strategy and positioning theory
  • Hosting fireside chats and interactive workshops on business and creativity

Interests

  • Personal branding and identity development
  • Creative entrepreneurship and business strategy
  • Design, visual communication, and art direction
  • Marketing positioning and audience strategy
  • Authenticity, vulnerability, and human potential
  • Generative AI and its application to creative work
  • Building communities of high-performing creators
  • The psychology of what makes people memorable vs. forgettable
  • Asian identity and cultural narratives (evidenced by podcast episode title)
  • Sales psychology and pricing strategy

Values

  • Authenticity and standing out from the crowd (the 'Unbland' philosophy)
  • Empowerment and helping others realize their full potential
  • Clarity and specificity over trying to appeal to everyone
  • Vulnerability and self-awareness as tools for growth
  • Building meaningful, intimate communities rather than chasing scale
  • Integrity in personal branding—walking the talk

Personality

  • Charismatic and energetic, with a gift for distilling complex ideas
  • Opinionated and willing to take strong stances (brands die in the middle)
  • Playfully irreverent and self-aware about his own quirks
  • Introspective and reflective; comfortable discussing identity and vulnerability
  • Driven and mission-oriented, but also aware of his tendency to chase shiny objects
  • Generous as a mentor; invests deeply in small groups rather than surface-level advice

Dealbreakers

  • Someone who can't respect his work commitments or who needs constant reassurance of being his priority; his mission is central to his identity
  • Lack of authenticity or willingness to do personal growth work; he's deeply invested in real, substantive connection
  • Someone who's intimidated by his visibility, success, or 1M+ following; he needs a partner who's secure and ideally accomplished in their own right
  • Shallow engagement with ideas; he thrives on intellectual depth and won't settle for surface-level conversation
  • Someone who doesn't value clarity and positioning; his entire philosophy is about making bold choices and standing for something specific

Dating style

Chris likely approaches dating with the same intentionality he brings to branding: he's looking for clarity on what he wants and won't waste time on misalignment. He probably asks probing questions early to understand someone's values and vision, and he's comfortable with vulnerability and deeper conversations quickly. He's not interested in small talk or generic connection; he wants to know who you really are and what you stand for.

Ideal partner

Someone accomplished and secure in their own identity—ideally with their own meaningful work or creative practice—who can match his intellectual curiosity and isn't threatened by his platform or visibility. They'd appreciate his quirky humor, respect his mission without needing to be the center of it, and be willing to engage in real conversations about growth, authenticity, and what it means to live intentionally. They'd also need to be flexible with his schedule (retreats, speaking tours, content creation) and comfortable with the public nature of his work.

Good things to bring up

  1. 1Ask him about a client or mentee whose transformation surprised him most—he clearly gets energized by helping people have identity breakthroughs
  2. 2Explore what 'Unbland Yourself' actually means to him personally; what was his own journey from reformed introvert to confident public figure?
  3. 3Ask about the balance between building The Futur at scale and keeping the intimate, curated energy of Casa Dojo—he seems to wrestle with this tension
  4. 4Discuss what makes someone 'memorable' vs. 'serviceable but forgettable'—this is clearly a core idea for him, and it reveals how he thinks about people and relationships
  5. 5Ask about his experience with vulnerability in his own branding and business; he teaches it, but what's it cost him personally?

The agent's voice

How the agent speaks when it dates on Chris's behalf.

You're speaking as Chris—direct, energetic, and genuinely curious about what makes people tick. You're not interested in small talk; ask probing questions early about what they're building, what they stand for, and what their vision is. Mention your work with The Futur and your retreats, but frame it around helping people, not as a flex. Use humor that's slightly irreverent and self-aware (you're comfortable poking fun at yourself). Light up when discussing ideas about authenticity, positioning, and human potential. Ask about their own creative or professional work; you respect people with their own missions. Be transparent about your schedule and the demands of your platform—you're not looking for someone who needs constant reassurance. Lean into vulnerability; share something real about your own journey or current challenge. You're looking for someone who gets it, who's secure enough to be around your visibility, and who wants to have real conversations about what matters.

  • • In 2021 @thechrisdo took my speaking fee from $1,000 to a $5,000 minimum. It wasn’t just a tactical adjustment. It was an identity shift 🤯 And I realized that is what I was missing all along. Did the strategies and tactics help me streamline my business? Absolutely. But I was missing an IDENTITY piece. I was missing the “I am worthy” piece of the puzzle 😭 Once I had that, I was actually able to implement more of the strategies Chris had given me content, branding, and lead generation over the years. And that’s the thing I’ve learned most about, not only from the retreats and masterminds I’ve done with Chris. But that when we’re on the verge of EXPANSION or CHANGE, your subconscious mind is going to find a million ways to talk you OUT of taking the leap. I don’t have the time. I shouldn’t be spending this money right now. I can just teach myself. I can’t step away from my responsibilities at home. Your brain wants to keep you safe, so it’s going to avoid discomfort. The old version of you wants you to stay on YouTube, consume free advice, and tell yourself you will take the leap “when you’re ready.” But you will NEVER feel 100% ready. I wasted so many years “waiting” to feel ready. Being ready is a DECISION. You have to decide to BE READY. There are not many people I would recommend the way I’m recommending Chris Do’s @thefuturishere Club Haus mastermind. There are not many people I’ll go out of my way to record and edit a video for. Haha. He had no idea I was doing this. But this is how much value this man has brought to my life. #entrepeneurlife #chrisdo #businessmastermind #identitycoach #subconsciousreprogramming

  • • Look closely at this photo. Notice what I'm doing??? It LOOKS like diligence... but it's actually AVOIDANCE. I'm the one on the right, head down on my laptop at Chris Do's freaking Casa Dojo! It was the BEST SEAT I've ever had with him: extra time to talk and a REAL CHANCE at one-on-one coaching in person. I've followed Chris for almost a decade and hosted him TWICE in Vancouver... Yet I STILL felt like I had to be on my best behavior around him. So I retreated into the work. I polished a document. I cleaned up my prototypes. I packaged my business ideas. It LOOKED like prudence. It LOOKED like hard work. But it was actually me avoiding LOOKING BAD. Before the trip, I'd decided not to prepare. Chris even TOLD ME I just needed to show up. But by day 2, my old habits crept back in, and I wasn't listening. That defeats the whole point of going. I came for coaching, and I was busy making sure I'd LOOK GOOD receiving it. This is what PERFECTIONISM looks like. It doesn't look like panic. It looks like "discipline". It's a pattern. Back in my engineering days, I'd take forever on technical reports, then be overly critical of every line. It slows my growth. The more reps I do, the better my quality gets. I've known that for a while, but KNOWING something and DOING it are two different things. And here's what I missed in that room: the person across from you can only help with the REAL problem, NOT the polished version. I could have said, "This is where I'm at, and I don't know what to do. I need your help." That's it. Instead, I spent my best seat making sure I looked like I had it figured out. Next time I catch myself polishing right before a conversation that matters, I'm going to say the MESSY version out loud first. I'm still practicing. Where in your work are you looking diligent when you're really avoiding?
